UPKAAR Journey

UPKAAR, is a welfare trust which started as an NGO to uplift the conditions of surrogate mothers in India, now also works for improving health and hygiene conditions of rural women in India and Nepal

Our Journey

The seeds of UPKAAR, in fact sown in early 2000s, when India was turning to the epicentre of surrogacy and infact was emerging as the hub of surrogacy. The idea is to look into the concerns of surrogate mothers in India came in the mind of Arushi G. Bakshiwhen she witnessed how surrogacy brings smile on the face of childless couples. She founded Upkaar as a platform for welfare of surrogate mothers in India in 2016. At Upkaar, she conducted vocational training and consultative workshops. Over years of working with poor women, she decided to extend these trainings to all women and also help with employment opportunities
